Oscar "Mr. 43rd Street" Wilson is a true torchbearer of Chicago blues, celebrated for his powerful voice, captivating stage presence, and deep connection to the genre's South Side roots. Born in 1953 on Chicago's iconic 43rd Street—now known as Muddy Waters Drive—Oscar grew up surrounded by the sounds and spirit of the blues. The son of blues guitarist and vocalist H.S. Wilson, Oscar's upbringing was steeped in a rich musical tradition, with family gatherings frequented by legends like Junior Wells, Elmore James, and David "Honeyboy" Edwards.

Despite this early exposure, Oscar didn’t pursue a professional music career until later in life. In his mid-50s, his passion for the blues was reignited during an impromptu performance at a blues jam. This pivotal moment led to his joining The Cash Box Kings in 2007, a band renowned for preserving the raw, authentic sound of traditional Chicago blues and Delta blues. Oscar's

commanding vocals and authenticity have been integral to the band’s success, earning them international acclaim and multiple Blues Music Award nominations.

In addition to his work with The Cash Box Kings, Oscar has released his own solo recordings, showcasing his versatility and storytelling. His solo album, One Room Blues, highlights his soulful interpretation of blues classics and original compositions, further cementing his place as a modern-day blues master.
